Post written by Avery In class, we did the assignment “Identify the Genre.” We had to use a google form that showed us the cover of the book and the blurb on the back of a book. For example: We needed to work in groups of three. Then we decided what genre it was. Mr. Salsich gave us a link to a chart that had a bunch of genres. We could click on a genre, read examples of the genre, the definition of the genre, and read the characteristics of the genre. We did the activity because it helps us be able to identify the genre of any text that we read. It also helped us work in a group and share ideas.

My favorite reading genre is probably realistic fiction. I think that is my favorite genre because I like knowing that something in the story could happen in real life. I can also connect more to what is happening in the story. Rather than in a fiction book where you can not connect to riding a dragon. In fiction books I find myself wishing that I lived in that kind of world or universe where magical things can happen.

My favorite reading genre is fantasy, because it has a lot of action and usually cool magic. Sometimes fantasy books also have a sense of mystery, which I like too. One of my favorite fantasy books is Harry Potter the Order of the Phoenix.
